Dragutin Gavrilović - hero of the Salonika Front

Dragutin Gavrilović was a second lieutenant of the Serbian army on the Salonika Front.

The call to charge

Before the assault on the Bulgarian positions in 1916, he spoke the famous words: "Soldiers, for the homeland, heroes! You are already dead, so your place is over there!"

His company carried out the charge and took the positions despite heavy losses.
