Živojin Mišić (1855–1921) was a Serbian vojvoda (field marshal) and one of the greatest military commanders in Serbian history.

The Battle of Kolubara

As commander of the First Army, he devised a bold plan that led to victory over Austria-Hungary in 1914. His strategy is studied in military academies around the world.

The Salonika Front

He commanded the Serbian forces during the breakthrough of the Salonika Front in 1918. His army advanced faster than any of the Allied forces.

Legacy

He was promoted to the rank of vojvoda. He is regarded as one of the greatest strategists of the First World War.
