On 21 May 1999, NATO bombed Novi Pazar for the second time, further damaging the historic Altun-Alem mosque.

The Altun-Alem mosque (16th century) was further damaged. The minaret partially collapsed.
Victims - Muslims
All 4 civilians were Muslims:
- Emir Softić (52 years old)
- Rifat Huseinović (48 years old)
- Fatima Zahirović (45 years old)
- Sead Mušović (38 years old)
Outrage of the Muslim community
The Islamic Community of Serbia strongly condemned it: "NATO is bombing the Muslims it supposedly 'protects'."
