NATO continues the attacks on military facilities across Serbia. First attacks on civilian infrastructure - bridges and communication hubs.
On 25 March 1999, the second day of the aggression, NATO intensified the attacks. In addition to military facilities, bridges and telecommunications infrastructure were struck for the first time.
Expansion of the targets
On this day, the following were bombed:
- Podgorica airport
- The military complex at Batajnica
- The bridge over the Danube near Novi Sad
- The Avala transmitter near Belgrade
- Military facilities in Niš
Civilian casualties
During the attack on the bridge in Novi Sad, 4 civilians were killed who were in a car on the bridge at the moment of the attack. These were the first confirmed civilian casualties of the attacks on infrastructure facilities.
International reactions
Russia sharply condemned the bombing. China called for an immediate halt to the attacks. Russia withdrew its representative from NATO.
