On 16 May 1999, after repeated attacks, NATO finally destroyed Golubovci Airport in Podgorica completely.
Victims - airport workers
8 airport workers were killed:
- Branko Vuković (52 years old, air traffic controller)
- Milorad Đukanović (48 years old, technician)
- Goran Marković (35 years old, engineer)
- Nebojša Petrović (41 years old, technician)
- Slobodan Nikolić (56 years old, operator)
- Dragan Jovanović (38 years old, process engineer)
- Zoran Đorđević (44 years old, controller)
- Milan Pavlović (50 years old, engineer)
An economic blow to Montenegro
Montenegro lost its only international airport. The reconstruction would cost over 100 million euros.
