Sajmište — Death Camp on the Banks of the Sava

A death camp for Jews, Roma and Partisans — more than 47,000 perished.

Sajmište (Judenlager Semlin) was a German death camp on the left bank of the Sava in Belgrade.

Death Camp

Jews from Belgrade, mostly women and children, were systematically murdered here. A "gas van" — a truck using exhaust fumes — was used.

Victims

More than 47,000 people perished, mostly Jews and Roma.

Memorial

The "Staro sajmište" memorial park stands on the site of the camp.
