In March 2004, an organized pogrom was carried out against the Serbian population in Kosovo and Metohija.
Violence
Between 17 and 18 March, Albanian paramilitary groups attacked Serbian settlements. Nineteen Serbs were killed and more than 900 wounded.
Destruction of heritage
Thirty-five monasteries and churches were burned, and more than 800 houses and apartments were destroyed.
Remembrance
Memorials have been erected at the sites of the killings.
