One of the deadliest camps in the Jasenovac system, primarily for women and children.
The Stara Gradiška camp (Jasenovac V) was a camp specifically for women and children, one of the most horrific parts of the NDH's death camp system.
Victims
Those who perished at Stara Gradiška were predominantly Serbian women and children, but also Jewish and Roma women. The women were subjected to the worst tortures, and the children were systematically killed.
Torture
The inmates were exposed to the most appalling suffering. Children were separated from their mothers and killed in front of them. Disease and hunger claimed lives every day.
Today
A memorial museum now stands at the site of the camp, preserving the memory of those who perished.
