Patriarchate of Peć – Seat of the Serbian Orthodox Church

A monastery complex and the historical seat of the Serbian patriarchs.

The Patriarchate of Peć was the seat of the Serbian archbishops and patriarchs from the 13th century.

The Complex

It consists of four churches: the Holy Apostles, Saint Demetrius, the Virgin Hodegetria, and Saint Nicholas.

Frescoes

A rich fresco programme from the 13th–14th century.

Significance

The most important ecclesiastical complex in Kosovo and Metohija, a UNESCO heritage site.
