A memorial to the fallen footballers of Serbia's most famous club, who joined the uprising in 1941.
The footballers of SK Jugoslavija (later Partizan) joined the Partisan movement immediately after the occupation in 1941.
Heroism
Instead of playing football under the occupation, the young athletes took up arms. Most of them were killed in the fight against fascism.
The Monument
A memorial park bearing the names of the fallen footballers was erected on Košutnjak. It is a place of remembrance for the courage of these young men.
Legacy
FK Partizan was founded in 1945 in memory of the fallen heroes. Its black-and-white colours stand for that remembrance.
