A monument to the Serbian warriors who liberated Niš from the Turks in 1878.
Niš was liberated on 11 January 1878 during the Serbian–Turkish War.
Liberation
After five centuries of Turkish rule, the Serbian army under the command of General Mihail Černjajev liberated Niš.
The Monument
It was erected in the town centre in memory of the liberators. A commemoration is held there every year.
